why holidays never smile my lips inside

december opened like a breathless pearl
we seemed to remember the slowness of it all
good bye happy christmas, january wept
easter's never been the same
july remembered sinking

new year's eve

sitting in the middle of celebration

february watched from above as
she knew slow tears inside
gray days no one can understand

why we're not smiling at this happy table
april's charms were meaningless so long ago
march was wraped in the death of her world
yeah, easter's never been the same

j was for july and she painted through that
pretender of her own religion
she wondered whether to tell her newest ache
but opening her mouth, no words came out
